Voter Registration Deadline is October 14, 2026

Certain May elections are considered primary races for the November general election, and therefore you must be registered as a Democrat or Republican in order to vote. That includes all of the state level races - Governor, all State House and some State Senate seats.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE REGISTERED WITH A MAJOR PARTY TO VOTE IN LOCAL NONPARTISAN RACES OR THE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION.
Metro is nonpartisan and not a primary, but if someone gets 50% +1 they will win outright in May.

Portland and Multnomah County have eliminated their May elections.
